Wild Abandon
12/22/2011
This wild abandon
should be the kind that goes down in history
could have been something out of fantasy..
Instead its only a mystery
how something so happily begun
would become so wildly abandoned..

Waiting for a Wave
Now he’s almost 17 (& driving..)!

Abundance in the new year
Welcome Back Willie! (Where’s Willie?)
05/12/2010
Sorry, folks, I’ve been distracted from my plan & haven’t posted for awhile. So here we are again, almost the middle of May, with a few bits of news, belated Mothers’ Day greetings, some photos from Will’s welcome home party, green visions & new blossoms in our Garden of Wonder, & who knows what else will appear on this page..
First, some good news from Gabriel: He’s graduating from UH-Hilo on Saturday! Yes, yes, yes! He’s a communications major & plans on getting a Masters from Manoa in Special Education. All this while holding his recruiting job with the National Guard.
Here he is in uniform with Auntie Ann when she was here in February.. Probably posted this already but what the heck i forgot to check..
Airi is getting famous for horseback riding & Kaia for dancing hula. (She debuted at the Merrie Monarch this year!)
So after over a year of enforced absence, Brenda’s Hawaiian boyfriend William is with us again. Bradley hosted a great celebration for the occasion of his homecoming & here are some glimpses of the revelry..
There’s Will! But which one?

Thanks to Brad & Jess for everything. By the way, they are getting married in August! Now that will be a big celebration!
Okay, here’s Wilma with orchid basket from Bruce & Nell. But I think some of the garden pictures will have to wait a little while. Will publish this anyway because that’s how I am. Unfinished is better than undone…
Aloha & Happy Spring to All
From the Garden of Little Lighthouses (& the Keeper of Many Bells)
After Easter Come April Showers
04/08/2010
Now that Easter has come and gone
the flash flood warnings are here again
the garden is growing the streams are flowing
and birthdays are coming for two more grandchildren
Kiakahi will be 10 and Jamal will be 15!
We had a traditional Easter egg hunt with a few surprises..
Kaia & Airi visited a big bunny at the mall…

And they both danced in the opening program for the Merrie Monarch Hula Festival!
Here are a few other new photos I think you haven’t already seen.. starting with Tihani, then her parents, Bruce & Nell..
And now there’s a tenor sax & a Lawakua, & from here ‘no one knows where it goes..’
Signs of Spring
03/21/2010
We take random sampling to a whole new meaning.. We take a theme (was it signs of spring?) to a whole new level.. & if anything comes up to confuse the colors we have been weaving.. let it offer a peaceful alternative, offer a song!..
A glimpse of the lighthouse garden.. I’m always sorry there are no more..
Wilma is making the trees for the new generations.. The showers keep coming!
Jamal & Brianna – howzit? More to come, always more..
A blue star is a sure sign of spring!
Approaching Mid-February

This is part of the shore-road short-cut
from our house to Kapoho
Our car didn’t make it… (just joking!) & there’s Ann’s tent in our yard.
Here’s Wilma with a wave splashing at Makenzie…
(For more of this area, please check the new post “Kapoho, Makenzie & Kalapana” on hiloshorelines, my 2nd wordpress weblog..)
Let’s just publish this in case anyone’s peeking.. will add more tomorrow.
Yes, I’m finally getting back to one of the original purposes of this weblog, which is to share pictures of the grandchildren… Perhaps tomorrow we’ll label who’s who.. or just ask.
This tryptich composite shows the only snow we’ve had this winter & that was in November!
ALOHA to all of you, as always..

HERE’S TO THE NEW YEAR!
Here’s to the unknown life ahead & the awesome adventure of each passing day…
The Big Island is blessed with wondrous beauty
& we are blessed by the light in our grandchildren’s eyes…
Kaia is now in kindergarten & Airi is already an orchestra conductor..
Here’s Wilma making lau-laus for everyone on New Year’s Day..
(This is just the beginning of January)
Aloha to All!
A few more photos of some of the other grandkids, cousins of Kaia & Airi–
First, Iron Chef Jamal!
& again with hina-hina (false Pele’s hair)
Here’s basketball pro Tihani–
(She’ll be 12 next week – Wilma’s oldest granddaughter)
And here’s her little brother Lawakua, famous for clothespins & clownery–

Now a towel dance by one of Bradley’s twins (which one?)
With 13 grandchildren we won’t try to get them all into every post… Let’s see who else I find in the recent files–
For those of you who have never been to Hilo I like to include a few of my favorite photos of downtown. This one actually centers on the building we used to live in. I started with one room (with my first check from Ken’s House of Pancakes) & 5 years later we ended up with the whole top floor, before moving toKeaukaha.
(St. Joseph’s & Haili Church steeples)
(Hilo Bay Moonwalk)

For my universal New Year’s greeting & lots more local scenery I highly recommend my 2nd weblog, Hilo Shore Lines (hiloshorelines.wordpress.com)
I say, let’s get more people on to WordPress
& away from (whatever holds them down)!
My dear brothers & sisters–
I Love You
A Day of Thanks
11/28/2009
We count our blessings
“This is the day that all good things happen..”
& for a change
today’s post will include only pictures actually taken today!
except for a few from last night..
First, the mystical majesty of Mauna Kea. Can’t pick a favorite so here is a whole series.. The snow will be back soon..
In the heart of Hilo…

October
11/03/2009
Last year I wanted to post weekly; now I’d be glad to make a monthly contribution.
Last year i launched several weblogs; now i can barely keep track of them.
This year i changed from dreamer to writer & back to dreamer again.
Next year I’ll turn back to writer & make restitution…
In the full moon again I see the possibilities
(reflected sunlight into everything)
Do I dare share this Madness?
Why not, my friend, why not?
Well, there went October.
Things got a little spooky on Halloween.
(Post it late or change the title?)
