Middle of May
05/19/2009
Don’t know what happened to global warming, but we still have snow on Mauna Kea & it’s the middle of May!
Finally got moved into the new house in Hawaiian beaches (lower rent, better house, longer drive). Transplanted lots of orchids, anthuriums etc. from the old garden. Hoping to buy a house in our new area before year ends… Grandson Jamal & his mom (Brenda) moved with us; the others stayed in town.
Let’s save the news for a newsletter & get on with the pictures & poetry (?) w/ which i try to fill these logs…

We’ll miss the beach parks (Onekahakaha, 4-Mile, Richardson, & especially Leleiwi)
where we spent many weekends & afternoons w/ children, grandchildren & friends…
But we have another rocky shoreline & a very rustic park
only half a mile from the new house!

“And He wouldn’t take away the column of cloud by day,
& He wouldn’t take away the pillar of fire by night!”
Ever since I moved to Maui in 1982
there has been a continuous flow of lava from Kilauea.
It enters the ocean near the now-buried village of Kalapana,
an impressive reminder of the mighty power of nature:

“Mountain flows to the Sea…
Ocean feeds the Sky & becomes a Cloud
& Thunder returns to Water, & feeds the Rock!”
